چکیده
Polymeric foams are a key element of many multifunctional sandwich structures. The most commonly used polymeric foam, polyurethane, presents environmental drawbacks, related to poor recyclability and the use toxic diisocyanates for their manufacturing. separation layers in structures is further unresolved hurdle toward these elements. There need broadening spectrum foams. In this context, foamability polybutene-1 (PB-1) studied through extrusion foaming experiments. From application side, PB-1 would allow manufacturing district heating pre-insulated pipes out one single material, bringing circular product design energy sector. scientific there knowledge gap polymers rubbery state at room temperature, such as PB-1, due difficulties cell stabilization step. This supports research polymer. study, four commercial grades were evaluated, covering different chain structures, molecular weights, crystallinity degrees. Very behaviors found. Dimensionally stable achieved with two homopolymers tested, demonstrating

Acoustics of Sandwich Structures
USC’s work on sandwich structure acoustics began in 1998 and has evolved in close collaboration with the M.C. Gill Corporation, a leading manufacturer of sandwich panels for aircraft interiors. The work has had both an applied mission and an academic focus, and presents an example of university-industry collaboration can produce mutual benefit while advancing scientific understanding. Here, we ...
متن کاملMultifunctional Sandwich‐Structured Electrolyte for High‐Performance Lithium–Sulfur Batteries
Due to its high theoretical energy density (2600 Wh kg-1), low cost, and environmental benignity, the lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery is attracting strong interest among the various electrochemical energy storage systems. However, its practical application is seriously hampered by the so-called shuttle effect of the highly soluble polysulfides. Herein, a novel design of multifunctional sandwich-s...
متن کاملModeling the Behavior of Fiber Reinforced Sandwich Structures Subjected to Underwater Explosions
Fiber composite material panels and sandwich panels possess both a high resistance to weight ratio and a high stiffness to weight ratio. Due to these features, fiber composite panels are used widely in aeronautic and marine structures, where the improvement of the structural performance while keeping a low weight is crucial. Sandwich structures, consisting of a foam core enclosed by two externa...
متن کاملDynamic fracture behavior of model sandwich structures with functionally graded core: a feasibility study
Feasibility of introducing compositional gradients to the core of a sandwich structure and the resulting fracture behavior under impact loading conditions is the primary focus of the study. Model sandwich structures comprising of graded core with bilinear variation of volume fraction of hollow microballoons are considered for experimental and numerical simulations. Conventional sandwiches with ...
متن کاملFoaming PLA with Thermoplastic Starch by Extrusion Assisted by Supercritical CO 2
The manufacture of biopolymers foams with poly-lactic acid (PLA) and thermoplastic starch (TPS) using the green process of extrusion assisted by supercritical CO2 is a promising way towards new applications. A parametric study evidenced that the porosity is strongly correlated with the die temperature, CO2 content and TPS load. To get a high porosity, die temperature has to be diminished to blo...
